March 25, 2009  BETTER THAN EXPECTED

To our incredible friends and family,

An Interesting Start In Saenz Peña:
Our first week in Saenz Peña was a mixed bag. When we got to the apartment there was a lot of cleaning to do. Here the owners are not all that concerned about upkeep for their renters. After washing everything down and shooing away the spiders and cockroaches we got showered and settled in. Then we realized we were nearly out of water. We expected more to come in the evening, but it didn’t, so we were quickly left without water. The weather was also very hot that week and it happened that a big transformer blew and the city was left without electricity for more than 2 days. Leaving the windows opened relieved the heat a bit, but it also invited in the mosquitoes. All three of us got seriously eaten up. We mostly felt bad because Ezekiel got bitten even with our best efforts to repel the bugs from him. This wasn’t the kind of welcome that we expected in the city where we want to invest our lives for the Gospel, but fortunately the water, electricity and mosquito issues have been resolved finally.
Even though the conditions were a bit uncomfortable, we saw God’s hand at work. While roaming around the city, trying to find different household items we needed, we were able to make a number of great contacts. Stopping by a hotel where we had stayed a number of times we connected with a lady at the front desk. She is a Christian, but has been away from the church for quite a while, and is really interested in getting involved again, and she loved the idea that we were going to start a church in Saenz Peña. We have stopped by to talk with her on a number of other occasions and are excited to see what God will do with our friendship. Another young lady at a restaurant we went to starting asking questions about us. When she found out we were going to start a church she also got really excited. She has been away from the church for about 3 years and really wants to get back to building her relationship with God. We invited her, her husband and their son over for dinner and we had a great time connecting. Even more, there are a couple of young adults from Samuhu that are studying in Saenz Peña. We have connected with them as well. A church is the people, and we are excited that God is bringing people into our lives so that we can encourage them in the Lord, and so that we can get this church started. Pray that God gives us great favor in this city and that we can find many great divine contacts like the ones we’ve already got. Pray that God will really bless this early stage of the church.

Thank You:
There is so much more to tell about how awesome God is and what He has been doing here, but for now we will leave you with what has been happening in Saenz Peña. Once again we want to thank you for your participation in this ministry. We feel the love of God through your prayers and generous giving. We could not do this without you. May God bless your lives as you have so blessed ours.

Special Giving Opportunity:
The last two years we have had the privilege of doing a sports outreach in Samuhu. This outreach has brought youth to the Lord that are faithfully serving Him today. Even though the Alpha Omega Sports Team will not be able to make it to Argentina this year, we don’t want to miss the opportunity to continue to draw the youth of Samuhu to the Lord. We are planning on doing the sports outreach during the Easter Holiday. The youth here get a couple of days off school, and that will give us the time we need to put on the sports tournaments and to preach the gospel to many youth who have never stepped foot in the church. To put this on we need to get sports equipment. We need Volleyballs, Basket balls, and Soccer balls, as well as some other prizes for the kids. This is a great opportunity to bless Samuhu, and to preach the gospel. We will be sharing the gospel through dramas, movies, testimonies, and short sermons during the tournaments. We have calculated the cost to be about 650 dollars to do the outreach. Please pray and ask the Lord if He would be leading you to give to help put this even on. This has been a powerful outreach, and we know that there are many lives to be touched this year. Thanks for your consideration.

February 25, 2009  STEPS OF FAITH

To our outstanding friends and family,

This has been a wonderful journey the last couple of years here in Argentina.  We have seen people get saved, get discipled, get healed, and get restored while pastoring in Samuhu, Chaco.  It is exciting to serve the Lord here, we feel so blessed.  Often times it is difficult, but knowing that you are praying for us and supporting us in so many ways encourages us to continue to reach for more.  That is what God is calling us to do right now, reach for more.  We would like to share exactly what that means.

Sharing our time with Saenz Pena:

Amidst a variety of circumstances we have heard the Lord leading us to go ahead and begin to work in Saenz Pena.  This is the city where we knew the Lord was calling us to plant our base church, but we weren’t sure when that would be.  Now is clearly the time.  Earlier this month we went there looking for a place to live.  We will have to begin renting an apartment for now until we find a more permanent location.  The Lord was good and has prepared a place for us that we feel will be both a blessing for us, and a strategic location to begin reaching out to the people in Saenz Pena.  Besides looking for a place to live, we also spent some time driving around the city praying and asking God for some specific strategies to start ministering to the people there.  We are committed to the task of evangelizing and training church planters to reach Chaco, and the world, for Christ and we are excited to see what the Lord will do.

As for the people in Samuhu, they have been very gracious in understanding the call of God on our lives.  We have committed to spending half a week in Samuhu and the other half in Saenz Pena.  This will probably last for the remainder of this year.  A number of people are excited about a good spiritual challenge and they are stepping up to help out.  We are happy because we can see that the Lord is using something that could be a bit of a discouragement to propel some people into serving the Lord in a greater capacity.

Implications:

With this new move we would like to invite you to pray about becoming more involved in this ministry.  We have had it pretty good in Samuhu with a house and church building already provided for us.  However, now in Saenz Pena we will be renting a place to live and our overall expenses are going up about 50%.  This is a critical time with a new church start.  We are excited about what God is doing, and we totally trust Him to provide for all our needs.  We simply want to invite you to pray and see what God might speak to you.  The Lord is in control and we are committed to this task whether it is easy or not, whether we have plenty or want.  The Lord has burdened our hearts for this part of the world, and we want to give our lives for these people.  We are so thankful to have someone like you to accompany us in this journey.

Thank You:

Once again we want to thank you for your participation in this ministry.  We feel the love of God through your prayers and generous giving.  We could not do this without you.  May God bless your lives as you have so blessed ours.

January 27, 2009  ADJUSTMENTS IN LIFE

To all our great friends and family,

It is a great privilege to share with you what God has been doing here in Argentina.  We love to serve the Lord, even when it is difficult.  We are highly dedicated to the task of raising up healthy life giving churches in the Chaco region of Argentina.  Here is what has been happening in the last month.

Adjustments in Life:

First of all it has been a great joy to adapt to having a new member of the family.  Ezekiel is growing up strong and healthy.  We think he will probably be tall.  He is six weeks old now and we have to put him in three month old cloths because he is growing so long.  Even having a small baby has not slowed us down too much.  Being a smaller community church here we have him in our arms as we sing or speak or teach.  The people actually enjoy being involved in our family in this way.  New pictures of Ezekiel get posted in facebook since our slower connection makes it difficult to send heavy emails.

Another significant adjustment has been the absence of Luis and Miriam and their family.  This family has been our right hand family since we have been here.  Actually we were discipling them to become the next pastors of this church.  Through a series of family difficulties they found themselves in Buenos Aires.  We thought it would just be for a short while, but it looks as though they are planning on staying there.  This has been sad on the personal level because we love them and miss them.  As for the ministry and some of the dreams we had for them to take on more responsibility, those are at least on hold for now if not cancelled altogether.  Building a leadership team out of a small church is difficult enough as it is, and losing key members leaves a big gap.  We know that God will provide what we need and what the church needs.  As a matter of fact we think He will do better than we had ever even imagined.  Please pray for Luis and Miriam’s family as they are going through a confusing time, and pray that the Lord does a miraculous work of grace to raise up new strong leaders here in Samuhu.

Preachers Club:

One of our small groups on Monday nights is called the ‘Preacher’s Club’ and is led by Anthony.  This is a small group of men and teenage boys who want to grow in their ability to share the word of God.  We can see a call of God on their lives and we want to help them develop what God is putting in their hearts to do.  To get them comfortable sharing the word they take turns sharing short 5-10 minute sermons on the Wednesday and Saturday night services.  They have been doing a great job.  Besides growing in the ability to handle the word of God they have truly blessed the people through the words the Lord has given them to share.  We are believing that God will raise up some great men and women of God here in Samuhu.  This is just one way we trying to help the people find the calling and gifting of God in their lives.

Thank You:

Once again we want to thank you for your participation in this ministry.  We feel the love of God through your prayers and generous giving.  We could not do this without you.  May God bless your lives as you have so blessed ours.

December 22, 2008  NEW LIFE IN SAMUHU

New Life In Samuhu Argentina

A powerful spiritual truth is that there are actually two births that can take place in your life.  If you are alive and kicking you have achieved the first natural birth without anyone asking for your input in the matter.  The second, however, depends directly on a decision that you must make to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  This is the spiritual birth and happens to be of much greater importance than even the beautiful event of your arrival into this world.  Here in Argentina we have been experiencing the beauty of both births in recent weeks.  Let us share briefly what God has been doing.

Water Baptism:

Near the end of November we had the great privilege of baptizing 9 people in water.  7 young people and two adults.  This is the result of what happens when people hear the truth about Jesus Christ and how you can come alive in Him.  As the Lord has been directing us we began a school of discipleship on Wednesday nights.  The first level of five addresses the realities of sin and salvation and leads into the biblical response to live for Christ and to be baptized in water.  We believe that many more will not only hear the word, but will be led to respond to it in a way that will change their lives forever.  Pray for these 9 people that the Lord will cause them to grow and become mighty men and women of God.  You can see some pictures of the water baptism by clicking the ‘Water Baptism’ tab in this blog.

Ezekiel David Rosier:

On December 11, 2008 at 17:35 Ezekiel David Rosier was born.  He weighed about 7.25lbs. and was 19.3in long.  So far he likes to sleep and does not like to be woken up.  He is a pretty calm except when he has some serious gases and then he is a bit difficult until the problem gets resolved.  We are very proud parents and so thankful to God for this wonderful gift he has given us.  Pray for Ezekiel that he will grow strong both physically and spiritually.  That at a young age he will really know Jesus Christ personally and live for Him without straying his whole life.  Pray that God will help us as parents truly lead him into the perfect will of God for his life.  We have posted some pictures in this blog in the ‘Ezekiel David Rosier’ tab.  Also we have posted some pictures on facebook.  The internet connection makes it difficult to add lots of pictures, but we will do what we can to continue to post new pictures of what God is doing here, and the growth of our family.

Thank You:
Once again we want to thank you for your participation in this ministry.  We know that times are tough, but it is so important to put the kingdom of God first.  Thank you for doing that in such a practical way as you support us through prayers and financial support.  We could not do this without you.  May God bless your lives as you have so blessed ours.

Merry Christmas to All!,

November, 26, 2008  LIVING VICTORIOUSLY IN SAMUHU

Living Victoriously in Samuhu,

There is a saying in Argentina; Eat hungry and go to bed tired.  So don’t eat just to eat, and don’t go to bed unless you’ve done enough to tire yourself out.  I can’t say we haven’t eaten just to eat on occasion here, but I know that we have certainly been going to bed tired these days.  Even though we get tired it is worth it.  Being busy causes time to fly by, and before you know it you look back and have accomplished so much.

Mother’s Day Special:

Mother’s Day is in October in Argentina.  Some of the women got together and put on a special event for the mothers in the town.  Many women who don’t come to the church were invited.  There were about 50 women who came.  We invited a guest speaker who is a single mother, raising two wonderful teenagers, and a real woman of God.  She ministered to the women; they enjoyed a great time of fellowship, and were blessed with gifts as no one left empty handed.  We try to find any way that we can sow seeds of the gospel, and let people know that living for Christ is the best.

Angel:

Through the sports outreach in July, one of the young people who gave their lives to Christ is named Angel.  He was living in all that the world had to offer when Christ filled his heart with His love, and he has never been the same again.  He is really growing in the Lord.  He has faced some new challenges in his walk with Christ, like other kids making fun of him, temptations to go back to the old way of living, and a mild case of persecution in his house as his parents are pretty religious Catholics. Angel is just like a sponge for the things of God.  Please continue to pray for Angel, that he will make it to his full potential in Christ.  We are doing all that we can to pray for him and with him, and to disciple him in the ways of God.  We believe that God is molding a great man to bring much glory to our Lord.

Spiritual Battles:

A couple of weeks ago we noticed that instead of feeling really joyful in the work here, we were feeling a bit downcast.  Things in our lives were going well, the church is growing and doing good, so we asked God what was happening.  He called us to prayer and fasting.  In the last two weeks we have found out that one of the other pastors in Samuhu was removed as pastor and had his credentials taken away, and another pastor in Samuhu is seriously ill.  The people in the churches are un-cared for, and many are looking for places to go.  We felt like there was a real spiritual struggle going on.  We were praying for a breakthrough.  We were believing that what looked like was going to be a bad moment for the church in Samuhu would turn to be a time where God would arise and bless His people.  It just happened that we had a visiting pastor come this last weekend, and it was totally a God thing.  Many of the people left without a pastor came to our church, and God really showed up.  The Lord worked through this pastor to bring a great time of refreshing to the church.  We were dancing in worship, and God was touching lives as we prayed for people.  We praise God that He always rises up to bless His people and to help us to live in victory.

Thank You:

Once again we want to thank you for your participation in this ministry.  We know that times are tough, but it is so important to put the kingdom of God first.  Thank you for doing that in such a practical way as you support us through prayers and financial support.  We could not do this without you.  May God bless your lives as you have so blessed ours.

October 25, 2008  IN THE GROOVE IN SAMUHU

To our outstanding friends and family,

It is great to be in the groove here in Samuhu.  We are involved in the people’s lives, struggling with them through the trials of life, and spurring them on to follow Christ no matter what circumstances they are facing.  It is a challenge, but a great joy to share Christ with the people of Chaco, Argentina. Here are a few interesting things that are going on in our lives here.

Saenz Pena:

Recently we took a trip to Saenz Pena for a couple of days.  There we met up with some friends from Brazil who are interested in joining the team to plant a church with us in Saenz Pena.  They are extremely gifted in worship and teaching, and we are hoping that they will be a powerful addition to the team.  We had a wonderful time scouting out the city, and getting an idea for the timing of God.  This couple has some important commitments for the next year or so, but they are excited about coming and working with us to raise up a mighty church that will reach Chaco for Christ, and beyond.  There is no detailed commitment, but we are praying for God to accomplish His perfect will.  Pray with us that if they are to come that God would arrange their circumstances and give them the green light.  If it is not God’s will, then let it become clear to all of us that God has something better in mind for everyone.

On this trip to Saenz Pena we also went to check out a building that we have been praying for.  It happens that it has been sold.  No problem.  It is way too early for a financial commitment like that, besides the fact that we need to get to Saenz Pena and begin to gather people first.  The church is people, not buildings.  We are praying for guidance in looking for housing.  This next year we hope to nail that down so we can focus on ministering when we get there.

Body Ministry:

We believe that God wants to use all Christians to spread the word through the particular gifts that He would place in them.  To each one according to the gift God has given him.  Based on this truth we began different ministry groups on Monday nights.  We have a group that is dedicated to the Sunday school program, the youth group, visiting and praying for the sick, and a group of men that Anthony is leading called the preachers club.  The people are responding well.  They feel a sense of responsibility, which we know will cause them to grow.  They feel useful, and they are focusing their efforts in an area where God is already giving them grace.  We believe that God will raise up lots of groups to build up the body of Christ and to reach out to the lost.  Our goal is that the church will gather around the mission that Jesus gave us and not around a man (minister or pastor, etc.).  As this happens the church will be in a better condition to function more independently whether there is main pastor leading the group or not. The group of believers here will be a team.  We are still praying for God to raise up someone who will take on the responsibility for the church here in Samuhu, but if that reality is still further along in the future, we won’t feel like we are leaving a frustrated church in Samuhu when the time comes to move on.  This will release us as we begin to move into the next phase of God’s plans for our lives here in Argentina.

Something new for the church and community:

We wanted to begin to offer Christian material to the people here, so we began to strategize how we could best do that.  As we looked into things we noticed that Samuhu was also lacking a place to do a photocopies (which are something used frequently for all sorts of needs) and get school/office supplies. We began looking into the matter, and after making a few contacts we are going to be able to offer, through a small store on the property here, a Christian book store that has photocopies and school/office supplies.  All of the earnings will go to the church here.  This kind of arrangement is totally normal for churches here.  We are looking forward to being able to have a whole new kind of contact with the people here, and to be able to offer something that is nonexistent, but needed here in town.  Pray that it becomes a true blessing for Samuhu, and for the church.

We continue to thank you for the many ways you bless our lives.  We are excited about continuing to pour ourselves out so that the people of Chaco might know Christ more and more.  We couldn’t do this without your help.  May God bless your lives as you have so blessed ours.

October 10, 2008 ALL IS WELL

To all our wonderful friends and family,

After a great visit in the states, we are excited to be back in Argentina where God has called us extend His kingdom.  When you are where you know you’re supposed to be, doing what you know you are supposed to be doing there is an excitement and a grace that comes with life.  Certainly there are challenges, but you don’t worry too much about that since you know the Lord is with you.  We would like to share a few of the highlights of what God is doing here in Samuhu, Chaco, Argentina.

The Church:

Alive and Well: We were very happy to find that the church was functioning very well.  We had given different leaders the lessons necessary to teach or preach during our absence.  They used what we had given them and they said that the people really responded.  Unlike other times when we have been away for a period of time, the people didn’t stray away.  Actually just the opposite happened; more people are coming now than when we left.  Praise God!

Future Leaders: Luis Escobar is a faithful man in the church whom we are working with as our key leader to potentially take over the church when we move on to Saenz Pena.  The people said that he did a better job than ever at communicating the word of God, and he said that he felt a lot more comfortable doing so.  This is a huge step forward.  Whether or not he leads the church in the future is no so important, but the fact that he is growing in his gifting and taking new steps of faith in God is eternally important.

Discipleship: Wednesday nights have been bible study nights, but now they are Discipleship School nights.  We have a series of 4 different studies that we put together to take a person from becoming a believer to becoming a leader.  The people are really into it.  It looks like by the end of November we will be having a baptism with a good 15-20 people.

Freedom From Chains: Maybe it is the world economic issues, or just the timing of God, but we have been spending a lot of time counseling people out of their financial bondage.  It has been a bit tough, because there is a long history of poverty in this region of the country, so the people think poor. There is never enough to make it to the end of the month and a million excuses as to why that is. Excuses aside, there are reasons why many of the people are in debt and can’t buy food the last week of the month.  Many of the people are giving over half of their income to high interest short term loans.  It is so hard for them to think about saving the money they would spend on the loans for 6-12 months for when they could pay cash for something.  They end up spending twice as much of the little money that they have.  Taking up the topic with some people is like trying to get a dog out of a trap that has his bleeding paw.  You may want to help, but the dog will bite at you.  So far with kindness and direction towards good financial principles the people are starting to see some light.  Pray that we can do our part to help release the people from the chains that keep them bound.

There is so much more that we would love to share.  What we do want to say is that your involvement in our lives and ministry is welcomed, enjoyed, and critically important.  We love to know that people are praying for us, we love to know what is going on in the lives of the people we love, and we couldn’t do what we are without your loving support.  Please feel free to write us atanthonyandjessicarosier@gmail.com.

God bless you,

Anthony and Jessica Rosier

September 25, 2008  LIFE IS EXCITING

First of all we want to welcome you to our new blog.  We hope you enjoy this site as we continue to share about what God is doing in and through our lives in Northern Argentina.  Let us know about any question you have concerning the ministry and hopefully we can add that valuable information here on the blog.

A Good Report:

We have been staying in touch with the church while we have been visiting the states.  The people have been encouraged and the church has continued to thrive.  The youth are still 30 strong and really excited about the Lord.  The adults have been sharing some special studies about what it means to be a disciple of Christ and they have been enjoying that.  Hearing good reports from them is very encouraging for a couple of reasons.  One is that the people are doing good.  We want that and enjoy hearing about that.  Another reason this is encouraging for us is the fact that we want that church be self sustaining and self motivated to meet together, study the word together, and reach out together.  We believe that the church is closer than ever before and that helps bring us more peace about moving on to Saenz Pena.

Even though the work is going good, we are excited about getting back.  We love the people and the work there, so it is tough to be away.  The Lord has given us a lot of fresh vision for the ministry and we are looking forward to seeing what He would do in the people’s lives.  We are looking to tranform the wednesday night bible study into a school of discipleship.  In the school of discipleship the people will still study the bible, but the goal will be to take the people from new converts to becoming disciple makers themselves.  We believe that this will be a very effective tool for reaching the lost and raising up leaders in the church.  We also want to initiate encounter retreats with the people.  These will be opportunities for people to really let God deal with the hurts and weaknesses in their lives.  We are also excited about starting the small group part of the ministry.  We will have different people open their homes to build community and to reach out to their neighborhoods.  There are some exciting times ahead for Samuhu, Argentina.

God bless you, and thank you for being a part of what God is doing in Argentina.  We truly could not do this without you.

To all our incredible friends and family,

The Lord is so good.  He has given us this opportunity to visit the USA for a time of refreshing.  We will be here in Vancouver for about 2.5 more weeks.  We will be spending time with family, friends, and the church.  Amongst many other things, we are working on a discipleship program while we are up here.  We are hoping to implement this discipleship upon returning to Samuhu.  The plan is to get our batteries charged and get back to the work as soon as possible.  We would love to be in contact with anyone who would like to get in touch with us.  You can email us or call us at 360-936-4695.  We are available to hang out and answer questions about what God is doing in Argentina.  We would also love to visit house churches if that would be something your house church would be interested in.

We are so blessed to have you all involved with us in what God is doing in Chaco, Argentina.  Thank you for all you faithful support in every way.  May God richly bless you as you have so blessed our lives.

Muchas Gracias,

Anthony and Jessica Rosier

Hola y Como Estan Todos Nuestros Seres Amados (Hello and how are all of our loved ones),

It is such a pleasure to serve God here in Argentina.  Here is what God has been up to most recently in Samuhu, Argentina.

Sebastian:

After returning from Resistencia to pick up Jenna Whalen and Abby Smith we were all ready to pour into Samuhu all that God would give us.  It was a Wednesday evening bible study night and all seemed to be going well.  When the meeting finished a middle aged gentleman with a young boy about 12 years old were waiting outside for us to talk to them.  As we began to find out what was going on they told us that the young boy had made a pact with the devil and that he was being tormented so that he couldn’t even sleep.  This is not something that you see everyday.  We wanted to make sure that they understood the difference between God and demons and what kind of an influence each wants to have in our lives.  Then we asked if he knew Jesus.  He said that he had recently been talking with another pastor and had renounced his pact with the devil and accepted Christ as his savior, but he was still tormented.  We prayed with him and told him to keep coming around.  We have seen him many times since then.  When we pray for him he sleeps well, but there are countless struggles and other families problems in his life.  We are believing that God is going to totally deliver this young boy and cause him to become a mighty man of God.  He says that he would like to become a pastor some day.  Please pray for Sebastian and that God would do a mighty work in his life.

Youth Retreat:

In mid July we were able to take 18 youth from Samuhu to Resistencia for a youth retreat.  We had three days where we were in the Church worshiping God and listening to the Word.  Then on the fourth day we had a picnic with the kids to play sports and have more time to build friendships.  We were truly pleased with what God did in the lives of many of the kids.  One young lady named Karen didn´t even know if she was going to be able to go on the trip for financial reasons saw God provide for her in a precious way.  While in the retreat she was just like a spiritual sponge, absorbing everything that was going on and being said.  She wrote down all the new songs and wanted to learn them.  Upon returning to Samuhu she has gotten up to share different passages that the Lord has put on her heart and she is wanting to help out on the worship team.  She is one of many young people who are marking a difference in their generation for God in Samuhu.

For the second year in a row we had the privilege of receiving Stu and Dawn Rowe with their team of sports evangelists.  They put on a six day sports tournament for the youth of Samuhu, playing Volleyball, Basketball, and Soccer.  They gave away sports balls to the first and second place teams in each tournament.  These were quality sports balls that the kids would probably never be able to get for themselves due to income restrictions.  The people of Samuhu were blessed.  While the sports tournaments were taking place another group of people were at the church putting on a Vacation Bible School for the young kids.  They blessed the kids with the word of God, fun activities and great prizes.  On top of all that work the group built a beautiful playground set for the town park.  Ever since it has been completed it has been full of kids.  This has built an even more favorable relationship with the government officials in the town, and more open doors for the Gospel message.  Throughout the week we saw 4 youth give their hearts to the Lord.  In a special meeting for women one woman gave her heart to Christ.  Also, in the Friday night youth service the presence of God was so strong that kids were crying during worship and at least one kid that we know of gave his heart to the Lord.  This was an extremely powerful week of ministry in Samuhu.  We thank all of the people on the Alpha Omega Team for coming and blessing Samuhu like you did.  Hopefully we will see you back next year;).

Deeper Unity In The Churches:

To top a great week off, the same Saturday that the sports team left we had invited one of the other churches in the town to come and share a worship service with us.  They came with their worship team and we gave the pulpit to their pastor to share a word with us.  We had a wonderful time in the presence of God and we were blessed by our brothers and sisters in Christ.  This is just one step further in the call to unity in the church in Samuhu.  Please keep praying that God will continue to build His church in Samuhu so that the community will actually be transformed by the Gospel as the Lord changes hearts and transforms lives.

A Visit To The USA:

Due to the fact that we are pregnant, we are going to make a short visit to the states before Jessica is too far along.  She is about five months along right now and at a safe place to travel.  Many missionaries are out of the country for a few years, then in the USA for a whole year.  Our plan is to spend as much time as possible in Argentina, while visiting the USA once a year for a short period of time.  We will be in the USA for 1 month starting the 14 of August.  We hope to see our family and spend time with friends, visit the church.  We also have many projects we would like to take care of while in the States.  We are thankful that the Lord is giving us this opportunity, but we are super anxious to continue the work in Samuhu.  In our absence many of the members of the congregation in Samuhu are stepping it up to continue to build the ministry.  We believe that this is a time where they will be fruitful and that they will be able to see more and more what a powerful God we serve as they surrender to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

We want to thank each of you for the many ways that you support this ministry.  We truly feel like you are part of the team.  Every one of you who prays for us and supports us financially give us so much strength to move forward.  The truth is it would be next to impossible to do what we are doing without your encouragement and support.  Yes God can do anything, but we are so blessed to be able to partner with you to see the Gospel advance in this very needy province in Northern Argentina.  We thank you so much,

Anthony and Jessica Rosier

Blessings to all our friends and family,

Is it just us, or is time flying by.  It seems like just yesterday that we were writing about the great victory the Lord gave the church in Samuhu when all the congregations met together for a big worship service for Pentecost.  Since then we have notice a change in the spiritual atmosphere.  New families are visiting the church, some of the other pastors in town have come by to thank us for the work the Lord is allowing us to do in Samuhu, and we know this is marking a new season for Christ in Samuhu.  This does not mean that we are without our struggles, but we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus.  He is giving us the strength and wisdom to advance over every obstacle.  We know in great part that we receive much strength from many of your prayers.  Thank you and keep it up.  It means a lot to us.

Fathers to their children y children to their fathers

At the end of the Old Testament in Malachi we find a promise that says that God would turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.  I think we can agree that worldwide the need a serious touch of God in the families.  Samuhu is in desperate need of a touch of God in the families as well.  In the church we have two couples who have been married by law for a number of years, but when they got married they went at different times to sign the papers because they were embarrassed to be their together.  A 14 year old boy in the youth group recently had his dad beat him in the back with a plastic hose until his older brother grabbed the dad by the throat to make him stop.  About a week ago there was a woman and her son who came to the house because they were afraid that the husband and father was going to hurt them.  We even have one couple who is living in adultery and claim to be Christians whom have been coming to our church.  After talking with them about what God would have for their lives still think that it is perfectly alright to live the lifestyle they are living.  Obviously we are facing a number a very heavy situations.  The Lord is giving us a grace to counsel and point people to the Lord, but it is a heavy battle.  We have marriage encounters once a month to establish a biblical vision for marriage and we are constantly talking to the kids about what God would have for them in the future if they would trust the Lord.  Please pray for the Lord to touch the people of Samuhu and Chaco for the restoration of the families.  Continue to pray that the Lord would use us to take great leaps forward for the cause of the families in Argentina.

We Are Pregnant

Speaking of families, our is getting a little bit bigger.  Right now there is a little guy or girl growing in Jessica’s womb (If you ask Anthony it is a girl, if you ask Jessica it is a boy, but whatever the Lord brings will be wonderful).  We are about 14 weeks along (yes we, the womb is Jessica’s, but pregnancy is for the both of us).  Jessica is doing well, no major symptoms other than a little fatigue.  She is such a strong woman.  We are very excited about this new stage in our family.  We pray for the baby every day and we can’t wait until December when the little one is due.  Please pray that everything goes well in the pregnancy and that a healthy energetic baby will come into this world.

Anniversary

Every year on June 20 the church celebrates it’s anniversary.  It is always an exciting time to thank God for His faithfulness and to look forward to what He would continue to do in our midst.  In the middle of all that the Lord does on the anniversary, we take the time to eat a huge Asado (Argentine BBQ).  We had about 100 people with us enjoying the presence of God and eating a feast together.  We had a wonderful time.

We also take advantage of the time before the anniversary to fix the place up.  Many changes were made; we plastered the wall that marks the property since it was weak and had holes in it, we fixed the ceiling in the church where pieces were beginning to fall because of the humidity and the years, we painted the church inside and out, we fixed the sidewalk, and finished the new construction (a bedroom and bathroom attached to the kitchen we did last year).  I wish I could send some pictures, but the Internet connection here makes it difficult and very time consuming to do so.  With a new look and a new year ahead of us we are expecting great things from God.

We thank you so much.  Please feel free to write us an email and ask us questions or tell us a little bit about your lives.  May God richly bless your lives as you have so richly blessed ours.

May God richly bless you and increase your faith more and more that He can use you and can do great things in your lives even if the circumstances seem very dismal all around.  We serve a mighty God!,

May 14, 2008

To all our incredible friends and family,

If we are being attentive we will be able to see that the Lord is moving in wonderful ways all around us.  Our job is to find out what God is doing and get involved in it.  It has been very exciting to be involved in what God has been doing in Samuhu.  Here are a few of the latest testimonies of God´s love flowing out onto the people of Samuhu, Argentina.

The Church Comes Together As One:

One of the most exciting events that took place over the last month is what happened on Sunday May 11.  Over the past few months four of the six pastors in Samuhu have been getting together to pray and grow in unity.  Recently a fifth pastor joined in.  We had been planning a church service with all of the churches together in one location.  We decided to realize this event on Pentecost, May 11.  The truth is that it was a struggle to get it organized and to come to an agreement on what to do and not to.  Finally we settled the matter.  The superintendent of Samuhu offered us a building to meet in that would most likely contain the 200 plus people that we were believing would come out.  We were organized and we had a pastor from another city who was going to come and preach, everything was looking good.

Everything was in order until 2 days before the meeting when the preacher canceled on us.  We called some other trustworthy pastors who could come and preach, but none of them were able to come.  One of the pastors suggested that I (Anthony) share the word.  I was willing, but only if all the other pastors were in agreement.  They were, so with 2 days before one of the most important events in the history of the church in Samuhu, I went to praying pleading with God for the words to share with His church.

The Lord was faithful.  The worship time was beautiful.  The Lord truly helped me preach a message that was life giving and timely for the church.  Then we began to minster to the people praying for them and the Holy Spirit really showed up.  Many people were crying as God was healing wounds in their souls and encouraging them to continue to fight the good fight.  There were about 200 people that showed up.  That is about 10 percent of the town.  At the end of the service no one wanted to go home.  The next day the people in the town stopped us to comment on the church service.  Many are asking for us to do a church service with all the churches together at least once a month.  We are not sure if we are going to be quite that frequent, but we are certainly encouraged to begin planning for the next unified church service.  We believe that this will mark a new season for the church in Samuhu. The Gospel is truly advancing here rapidly.

The Youth:

We love to report on what God is doing in the youth.  We believe that the Lord has in large part brought us to Samuhu to minister to a very special group of kids whom we believe are going to shake the nations for God.  In the middle of all their struggles they are getting bolder and bolder for the Gospel.  They have recently started praying in their school.  This is a powerful testimony.  We believe that God is going to bless that school even more, and bring many more youth to Christ as they make public their confession of faith.

Construction:

We are encouraged to report that the room and bathroom addition onto the kitchen we build last year is moving along nicely.  This project has not slowed down the ministry at all.  We are hoping to have it all finished in about a month.

Looking Forward:

With the progress in Samuhu we are encouraged that the Lord is giving us the green light to move forward and plant a Church in Saenz Pena where we will be a base for planting churches in many needy small towns like Samuhu.  We are working hard to raise up leaders in Samuhu.  We are being patient, but when the Lord says move forward we will.  Our heart is to pour into Samuhu for as far into the future as we can see, but we need to move forward so that we can do our part in raising up the church in many many small towns in this area of the country.  Please pray for God to open all the doors that we are to walk through, and shut the doors that we are not to walk through.  That we would find ourselves in His perfect will, and that His name would receive great glory.

Once again we truly want to thank you for your support both spiritually and financially.  We are giving it our all here to see lives saved by the gospel, and to see a mighty church rise up here in Chaco, Argentina.  We could not be doing what we do without you.  Your role in this ministry is vital and we truly cannot thank you enough for what you are doing for this ministry.  God is expanding the vision and we are excited to walk out our destiny in Christ with all of our precious and wonderful friends and family.

May God richly bless you and increase your faith more and more that He can use you and can do great things in your lives even if the circumstances seem very dismal all around.  We serve a mighty God!,

God´s richest blessing to our beloved friends and family,

It seems like time is really flying by.  With each new month that passes we find that God is surprising us more and more.  It is such a great privilege to serve God here in northern Argentina.  Here are a few testimonies of what has been happening in the last month.

Building.

With the seemingly constant flow of visitors that have been coming to Samuhu, and the lack of classroom space for Sunday School, we are on another construction project.  This one is to build a bedroom with a bathroom onto the kitchen that we built last year.  This will be a great blessing for both the ability to minister to the people in Samuhu, and to be able to host the people whom the Lord brings to help minister in the Church.  Please pray that everything goes smoothly and quickly so we don´t get hung up on construction, and that we would maintain our focus on discipling people in Christ.

Broadening our horizons.

This last week we had the privilege of traveling around the Chaco area with Tom, Dana, and Fairlight Fitzgerald, and an Argentine couple who are Ministering in Chaco.  Tom has had a vision to see the people of Chaco walking in the freedom of Christ for a long time.  As we traveled to many different towns he was able to share this message while Anthony translated.  This team was able to spend a couple of days in Samuhu, where they really blessed the people.  It was a great blessing to have them come spend some time at our church.

As we traveled we had a wonderful time getting to know a lot of different co-laborers in Christ around this region.  As we went to many towns we were able to see even more clearly the great need for God to raise up many life giving churches.  Many churches have a mixture of witchcraft and the gospel.  Others are caught up in traditions and legalism.  There are also many towns without any churches at all.  There are some bright shining lights, but it is obvious that the field needs a lot of plowing and sowing for the Gospel to really be clearly communicated and represented in Chaco.

One portion of our trip we spent some time in Saenz Pena.  This is the location that the Lord is leading us to plant the base for church planting here in Chaco.  We were able to make some friends with some wonderful and influential people in the City.  We feel like the Lord is really opening a door for us there.  We are excited about the future work that God is preparing for us.

The Youth.

Just over two weeks ago we did an event for the youth in our church called ´Hecho Pelota´.  This term basically means that something is totally ruined.  We drew the conclusion that without Christ your life is totally ruined.  We had the youth invite their friends who have never gone to church before.  We announced that we were going to give away a soccer ball a basketball and a volleyball (Ball in Spanish is Pelota, hence the connection between the title of the outreach and the giving away of the sports equipment).  That Friday night the church was loaded with over 30 youth, about half of whom had never been in church before.  What is really awesome is that the next Friday we still had over 30 youth.  Obviously they were drawn to something more than just athletic equipment.  Please pray that we will be able to disciple all these young people and help them to really connect with God in a powerful way.

To all our incredible friends and family,

Another great month has passed here in Chaco, Argentina and God has been moving in great ways.  We are so excited about serving God here and we are believing for God to continue to expand the vision to be able to touch many many lives for His name’s sake.

Prophetic Assembly:

We recently had the privilege of having visit us Pastors Phil Harris and Randy Zeigler from City Harvest Church along with a brother Mike Pasa.  They came down to encourage us as missionaries and to help us in any way possible.  We had invited them to focus on prophetic ministry to the congregation.  As we worshiped the Lord in the church meetings, the presence of God came down, and God gave these men many prophetic words for the people in our congregation.  Through this ministry many people were awakened to gifts and calling that they never knew that they had.  Others were encouraged to continue pursuing what the Lord had already put on their hearts to do.  Others still were touched by the beautiful thoughts that God has for them and the intimate care he has for each of his precious children.  It was a beautiful time and the church was greatly encouraged.

After the prophetic assembly we went with these men to go scouting out different cities for future church plants.  We believe that the Lord is opening a door for us to go to Saenz Pena, a city right in the heart of Chaco, where we could really raise up a sending church to raise up and send out many church plant teams to the lost and forgotten towns in Chaco.  Please continue to pray that the Lord really confirms His will for our lives.

Lucila:

Lucila is a women in our congregation who recently went through a major operation in her mid section.  She was still dealing with pains in her stomach that worried her, but in one worship service she was healed.  Luis (a man who leads worship in our church) was singing a song where in one part it leads you to jump.  He said if you are dealing with pain in your body you need to jump by faith that God will heal you.  Lucila received the word of faith and jumped at the appropriate time and the pain went away instantly.  It has not been back since.

Agustina:

A young girl about 7 years old had her mom bring her to church one afternoon to have us pray for her.  She was dealing with serious stomach pains and was about to be taken into the hospital.  She came to church believing that God would heal her.  We prayed with her (Anthony, Jessica, and Phil Harris), the pains went away and have not come back since.  Praise God!!!

Lydia, Belen, Veronica:

These three women re-dedicated their lives the Lord last weekend.  Pray that we are able to disciple them well, so that they will not be in and out type Christians.

The Youth:

After these last couple of weeks, the youth have really felt encouraged and are stirred more than ever to serve the Lord.  Many of them were baptized with the Holy Spirit.  We believe that out of this small church in the middle of nowhere God is going to raise up some great men and women of God that shake the nations for His glory!

To all our incredible friends and family,

The Youth:

This last month has been very interesting for the youth.  They worked very hard to get some money together to travel to Resistencia for summer camp.  By selling little pizza pockets called empanadas and Argentina style donuts they achieved their financial goal and off we went to camp.  The kids were blessed at camp.  They had a lot of fun, but most importantly God was touching their hearts.  On more than one occasion most of them were up at the altar crying before the Lord as He was ministering to their hearts.  After we returned back to Samuhu it seemed like the enemy was waiting to discourage the work that the Lord has done in their lives.  For about a week there were a number of struggles that we faced concerning the youth.  The Lord gave us wisdom and at the end the second week after camp 6 adolescents gave their hearts to the Lord.  What the enemy wanted to use to destroy the work of the Lord just opened the door for God to work more powerfully.  No matter what the enemy is throwing at our lives, God always has the upper hand, the victory is already won.  We just have to stay still and trust in what God is going to do and be obedient to follow His lead.  Keep praying for the youth, it is not easy for the kids these days to live lives devoted to God, but the light of the Lord will shine brighter and brighter in this up and coming generation.

Roberto and Claudia:

Roberto had an accident on his horse where he hit his head on the ground and was having trouble remembering people and his past.  He and his wife are from a farming community near Samuhu and they came to Samuhu to spend some time with Roberto´s family as he was recovering.  Jessica and I went to visit them and encourage Roberto and pray for him.  While we were talking to them we began to understand that they really had never given their hearts to the Lord.  Like a great majority of the people here they thought the the Christian churches were just another option for help like the witch doctors or the hospital.  They had both visited regularly the witch doctors and this concerned us greatly.  We began to discuss with them the danger in this way of living.  We explained to them that witch doctors call on the rebellious angels whom fell from heaven and they are called demons.  We told them that only Jesus could truly help them in this life and give them the security of eternal life.  As we talked with them Claudia began to cry and we asked them if they really wanted to give their hearts to Jesus and trust in only him in this life.  They said yes and we prayed together as they accepted Jesus and Lord and Savior.  It was a beautiful morning.  Eventually they went back to their farm as Roberto is recovering just fine, and they are full of the love of God.  Please continue to pray that we can help a lot of people come out of the syncretism (mixture of different belief systems that are actually contradictory).  Please continue to believe with us for many souls to come to know Jesus personally.

Up and coming events:

-Jessica´s Dad´s wife is having a baby this week.  Maximo Jeremias Martinez.  Pray that all goes well with the delivery and for the health of the baby.

-In March we have the privilege of having Randy Ziglar, Phil Harris, and Mike Pazza from City Harvest Church coming down to minister to the church here for about a week and a half.  Pray that the Lord uses the mightily.

Continue to pray for the gathering of the pastors in Samuhu.  We have met with the pastors two times now and everything is going well.  Keep praying that our unity can grow to be a great testimony in the town and that God will work mightily through our working together.

Continue to pray for the Lord to guide our future.  We are working hard to raise up leaders in Samuhu so that they can function with our without our presence in the town.  The Lord has clearly called us to plant and raise up many churches in the lost and forgotten towns in Argentina.  We are looking for God to show us His perfect plan for accomplishing this task.

We love you all and are so blessed to have your encouragement, prayers, and support in every way.  We could not be here and focus our efforts like we are without you all.  We highly value your presence and important role you play in this ministry.  May the Lord to continue to greatly bless your lives and you are blessing us.

To all our beloved friends and family,

Gringo:

Gringo is the name of a young man, 16 years old, who has recently given his heart to the Lord.  He has been coming around the church to hang out and talk from time to time.  On one occasion about 3 weeks ago we asked him if he would be interested in doing a bible study with us.  He said that it sounded like a good idea to him.  A couple of days later he showed up at church and we began the study called ´Abundant Life´.  The first lesson is on becoming born again.  We explained to him clearly what it meant and asked him if he felt like it was time for him to accept Jesus into his heart.  He said yes, and we prayed together.  He has since come to the church to continue the bible study.  Please pray for him that he can grow up in the Lord and stay faithful.

Unity:

About 3 weeks ago we sent a letter out to the other pastors in Samuhu.  It was difficult to get in contact with them because they only come to Samuhu about once a week to have a church service, then they go back to the town where live.  The Lord helped us and as a result, this last Saturday we had the first pastors meeting in the history of Samuhu.  We invited them to lunch in our church.  We really just wanted to get to know them and pray together, but we didn´t know all that the Lord had in store.  The pastors that came were near the point of tears, because it has been a great desire to bring spiritual unity in Samuhu, but they were never able to do so for one reason or another.  To them it was truly a historical moment for the church in Samuhu.

One pastor was so excited that he said that his whole church was going to come and visit us that very evening in our church service.  That night we barely got through worship when our building blessed by the presence of about 20 people from that church.  We already had a good turnout for a Saturday night service, but when the others showed up many people were left standing in the back.  It was really a blessed time.

Another unexpected outcome was that a different pastor invited Anthony to come and preach in his church on Sunday night.  We had a wonderful time with that congregation and we just feel so blessed by what the Lord is doing.  So in a very short amount of time we have moved leaps forward in bringing unity between the churches in Samuhu.  In a small town the word gets around quickly what is happening.  We believe this will mark a new favor for the church in Samuhu, and we are believing for a great harvest as an outcome.  Please pray for us to have wisdom in how to work together as pastors to bless the church and the community, and that we can truly walk out unity to be examples for the people of Samuhu.

Well, there is much more to share with you, but that will have to wait for another time.  We want to thank you all again for your prayers and support.  We truly could not be doing this without you.  May the Lord richly bless your lives both spiritually and naturally.  We really appreciate the role you all play in this mission to reach the people of Chaco for Christ.  Thank you so much.

Dios les Bendiga,

Anthony and Jessica Rosier
